Up for sale is a 1996 Jeep Cherokee 4-Door with only 89,981 original miles. The Jeep has the rare, top of the line, Country edition package which featured the two-tone paint scheme, roof rack, chrome bumpers, aluminum wheels, upgraded trim, ABS, power window and door locks, and rear wheel drive with multiple levels of shift on the fly 4WD. The Country has the 4.0-liter Inline-6 (I6) engine, it produced about 190 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque.
The second owner bought it in 1998 with 29000 miles and only put on an average of 4400 miles a year until 2021, it was always garaged. The third owner was the second owner’s grandson and only brought it up a few thousand miles. I bought it in September last year with hopes of lifting it but am going a different direction.

While driving it, on three occasions there was a clank when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear; usually is shifts very smoothly. I brought it to “The Shop Automotive LLC” on 55th for a pre-sale inspection. They drained and filled the front and rear differential and replaced two transmission oil cooler line hoses but didn’t find any issues; they called the jeep “Minty.”
The interior is in unexpectedly great condition, everything appears original except the stereo. Non-Smoking Vehicle.
The exterior shows expected blemishes for being nearly 30 years old. CarFax identifies two accidents, the first damaged the fender and there is some indication of being bent. The second was to the right side; a few silver dollar size patches can be seen. There is also a small hole in the back – all shown in photos. Happy to send over the CarFax report I bought last September.
It NEEDS new tires; they have plenty of tread but were made in 2013 and starting to show dry rot, not safe for long distance / high speed travel without replacing.
