Chrysanthemum stones (kikka-seki) are highly prized natural formations found primarily in the Neodani Valley of Gifu Prefecture. These stones contain white crystal formations that resemble chrysanthemum flowers embedded in a dark matrix. They are considered among the most valued specimens in the Japanese suiseki (viewing stone) tradition.
The inscription "Ebisu Daikoku" refers to two deities from the Seven Lucky Gods of Japan - Ebisu (god of fishermen and good fortune) and Daikoku (god of wealth and prosperity) - suggesting this stone was selected for its auspicious pattern and energy.
This stone is in excellent vintage condition and has been carefully preserved in its original box. The stone is permanently attached to its custom-fitted base. Please note that the decorative background cloth shown in some photos is not included.
The stone comes with its original wooden box featuring a certificate inscription by Sekisendo, verifying its authenticity and quality. Sekisendo is a respected name in the suiseki world, adding significant value to this piece.
Authentic Neodani chrysanthemum stones with original certification boxes from the 1980s are increasingly difficult to find on the market. The chrysanthemum stone deposits in Neodani have been largely depleted, making vintage specimens like this particularly valuable to collectors.
