This antique French mirror most likely would have been part of a larger marriage or bridal mirror.
The gilt gesso frame has obvioulsy had significant loss over many years and is now a beautiful rustic distressed piece. The mirror plate has the most wonderful age related foxing and silvering throughout which makes this mirror so special.
Would suit a similar distressed antique interior or commercial space.
Frame measures 51cm x 45cm. The plate sits within at 39cm x 33cm.
Please note as mentioned there is loss and wear to the frame and, in addition to the foxing, on the plate there are some light surface scratching and blemish marks which show spots where the glass is transparent through to the wooden back. We think only creates the appeal and character of the piece, but do see all the photos.
