DESCRIPTION

Wonderful early 19th century hand embroidered silk mourning memorial.  Shows a young girl in the foreground with a Bible or hymnal in her hand.  In the background are trees and mountains along a running stream, with an open mausoleum and weeping willow on the shore. Under glass and framed in a bird's eye maple frame with a gilt interior liner.

CONDITION

Overall excellent.  Colors good.  Some minor pulled threads in the water illustration, and some waterstains, mostly in the upper right quadrant (all visible in the images).  A FINE AND RARE 19TH CENTURY SILK MOURNING MEMORIAL.
