This listing features an authentic Japanese lacquered wood stacking bento box (jubako) from the late Edo to Meiji period (circa 1850-1900). This beautiful piece showcases traditional gold makie (sprinkled gold lacquer) decoration with exquisite landscape and floral motifs.

- Era: Late Edo to Meiji Period (19th century)

- Type: Portable stacking food box (nojubako/portable picnic bento)

- Material: Natural wood with true lacquer (urushi)

- Technique: Honkataji nuno-zuri (true lacquer over cloth base)

- Design: Gold makie (sprinkled gold) with landscape and floral motifs

- Finish: Black lacquer exterior with vermilion red interior

- Purpose: Traditional portable multi-tiered food container for outdoor dining


CONDITION:
