this very rare barometer in Birdseye and tiger maple was made by Paul Courti  OF Exeter he was working from 1830-to 1860 , I would assume its on the early Side of that with the wood choice this is the first example from this period that we have seen , most of his work was with mahogany or rosewood and this is a true gem perhaps he custom made it for someone . Now function there is some loss to wood bordering thermometer, and I can't tell if there is mercury in it ? Now if there isn't that could be replaced easily in fact when the new owner picks this up, we might have something ! , the rest of it not sure if it functions correctly but looks to be intact inside piece of return molding top right missing , please ask any questions, its possible to take this to a mail and ship store and I believe they could pack and ship fed ex ground . this cannot be shipped via usps . contact us first for an estimate on a quote , otherwise follow alone with our furniture policy below , we will be happy to assist you
