1967 Logghe Dragster. This very period correct dragster is a piece of Automotive History as well as an amazing example of Automotive Art from the Golden Age of drag racing. For the cost of a driver quality Camaro this could be the centerpiece of your collection.
1967 Logghe Dragster
Fresh restoration (sept 2024) of this 1967 AA/FD “Angels Flight”
This restoration is a tribute car recreating a car my friend drove in 1967. It’s really a tale of 2 cars- the tribute car and the actual car that supplied most of the bones for the project. The donor car had an impressive history, itself running into the 1980’s and its owner making it into the NHRA hall of fame. The tribute car has an even more compelling story which I will share with any prospective buyers. Trust me, it’s good.
The frame is an unmolested 1967 Logghe frame, similar to the frames Connie Kalitta and others typically drove during that era. Coupled with a period correct Kellison body makes it a rare combination. By 67 they were incorporating serious style points into the design of dragsters as evidenced by this “chute packer” styled body. I have taken liberties with the paint and design but otherwise it is as raced in 67.
A fully rebuilt (Thunder Works Eng), Cackle ready, 1957 Chrysler 392 Hemi sits in the frame ready to cackle or just show. (never been started). A 671 blower with era correct Hilborn short stack injection, rebuilt JoeHunt Mag and the vintage scoop give it “the look” as well as the horsepower to back it up.
A Chrysler rear end with early style disc brakes bring up the rear. Early 16” American mags with M & H Slicks round out the package.
The body is painted (20 coats on the nose) with House of Color Kandy apple red over horizon gold give it that deep color that really pops in the sunshine. Variegated gold leaf over white stripes and hand lettered name completes the vintage imagery. The entire inside of the car has been treated with Bedliner material for a clean look and easy cleaning. The underside is coated as well to protect it because with a 2” ground clearance it’s only a matter of time before someone drags it over something. Now that’s not a problem.
This very period correct dragster is a piece of Automotive History as well as an amazing example of Automotive Art from the Golden Age of drag racing. This car would be the centerpiece of someones collection sitting in their man cave but it is almost ready to “Cackle” should you desire. For the cost of a driver quality Camaro this could be the centerpiece of your collection. Only seen in public twice since 1984, Run to the Sun Car show (first place), and Nitro Fest 2024.
