Incredible burl wood veneer sewing box presented in 1875 to Miss Pincott.  Displays a mother of pearl inscribed shield dedicated to this lady along with decorative leaf below.  The key hole and the leaf on the front of the box are also mother of pearl.  The rounded cover opens to display a velvet interior cover.  The interior of the box, I believe was all padded velvet and a few of the lift out tray retains the velvet.  On the interior side of the box is a knob which, when lifted, opens a secret tray on the bottom right side.  There are losses to the bottom right corner and crack that continues to the left with a minor loss in the center.  On the top of the cover there is a crack to the burl veneer which runs the length  of the box.  The back of the box has a crack to the burl veneer and a minor loss.  Overall, this is an incredible piece of workmanship.  One of a kind antique box.  Measures approximately 6" tall x 12" x 9" deep.
