The Pair of Inkwells are all brass and are quite heavy for their size.

Each Inkwell has a globe décor with CELESTIAL & TERRESTIAL GLOBE motifs and are supported by three Lion Griffins on a stylized base cover with repousse relief, and an apron surrounded with grids and technical captions.

Each Inkwell has a fitted rim between top and bottom; the base has an inside lower rim projecting upward from the top so that it slips neatly inside the edge of the top to hold it secure.

The estimated date is circa 1810, early 19^th Century.
