This simple or Gould type microscope is signed in script on the vertical limb, ‘F. Cox, 100 Newgate St, London’, dating it to 1845 – 70. The rack and pinion is perfect. The 1.25″ mirror is good but with a little loss to the centre.
This simple or Gould type microscope is signed in script on the vertical limb, ‘F. Cox, 100 Newgate St, London’, dating it to 1845 – 70. The rack and pinion is perfect. The 1.25″ mirror is good but with a little loss to the centre. The stage magnifier is excellent, as is the rest of the microscope. But there are no lenses. The case, with central brass lug to the lid, measures almost 6.5″ x 4.5″ x 2″. Lock present. No cracks. Internal slats missing.
