Sadly due to the popularity of our idea and product, we were knocked off by someone who took our exact design elements and made a cheap version of our cleaner that they started selling online while we were busy building and selling ours direct to our customers and trying to catch up with our 16 month backlog. They have left many of their customers with broken tapes and empty wallets due to their poor customer service. Many of whom they outright blocked and refused to refund their money when they complained. We've had MANY of their customers comes to us sharing horrible experiences, regretful for their purchase, and wanting our cleaner. Due to that we've initiated a trade-in program of $25 credit toward a new VIL Mold Cleaning System to help offset that loss. *Removing mold from analog tapes do not "SAVE" your tapes or even guarantee they play properly once cleaned. Even without the presence of mold analog tapes are many times decades old and can have inherit playback issues from degrading, improper storage, heat, and other physical flaws that can affect playback quality. The primary reason to clean mold from tapes is that mold spores can contaminate your VCR heads (tiny electronic components) and cause the VCR not to play tapes properly. Cleaning those heads cause more wear and tear on a product that is quickly becoming obsolete so extreme care should be taken with working VCRs. You also want to clean mold from tapes so that mold spores are not spread in VCR as the tape is played thereby contaminating other tapes, or worse getting into the air you breathe. Many people have mold allergies which is why we always recommend you wear a mask when cleaning moldy tapes and why we so highly recommend our vacuum system.*
