Printed image size: 21 x 21 inches
Printed on Arches Aquarelle.

Executed in 1972; this impression was number 233 from the total edition of 632 unique impressions, one of 472 impressions used by architects Johnson & Burgee for the Hotel Marquette, Minneapolis, published by David Whitney. This series is an extreme example of the concept of color serialization. The screenprint was produced at an unheard of 472 unique color variations with the use of only three screens. The sunset series is considered to be one of Warhol’s more expressive projects he produced in his lifetime. The commission for the work was made by Johnson & Burgee, famed architects, to be installed in the rooms of the renovated Hotel Marquette in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The plate signed print is in excellent condition. The M. Mars Gallery in New York produced some of the finest quality prints, producing vivid colors on the finest linen paper for many artists.
